Two directors of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Mrs. Lauren Braide and Alhaji Akanya Ibrahim have bowed out of service after 35 years of meritorious service.
The retirees, Mrs. Lauren Braide was Director, Community Development and Education Department (CDE) while Alhaji Akanya Ibrahim was the Director Economic Empowerment Department (EED) were sent forth by staff of the Departments on Friday, 18 September and 9 October 2020 respectively.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Babayo Ardo who was the guest of honour, on behalf of the Honourable Ministers and the Federal Government of Nigeria thanked them for their dedication and commitment to service in the country and prayed that their later years be better than the former.
He assures them that the Ministry would do everything possible to make their lives as comfortable as possible taking cognizance of the fact that the contributory Pension created has its challenges, benefits, and other issues. According to him, these issues have propelled him to instruct the Director of Human Resources of the Ministry of the need to have a desk officer that will deal with issues relating retirement in the Ministry.
Dr. Ardo further stated that all 2020 retirees would be formally sent forth later in the year by the Hon. Ministers.
In his goodwill message, the Director Human Resources, Mr. Musa Dakas on behalf of other Directors said that they have left an indelible footprints in the public service and made their marks in the department and the Ministry, adding that God will grant them, good health, long life, and Peaceful retirement.
The members of Association of Senior Civil Service of the Ministry led by its Chairman Comrade Benjamin Ogede presented plaques and gifts to the retirees for their selfless service to their fatherland. In his remarks, Alhaji Akanya Ibrahim on behalf of retirees expressed his profound gratitude to God for seeing them throughout the service years and thanked everyone for their cooperation and support.
He said he had served the Ministry for 11 years and the journey has been very smooth, he, therefore, thanked the Permanent Secretary and all management staff for the opportunity to serve and retire in the Ministry.
