The Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani has reaffirmed his commitment to the restructuring of the affairs of the ministry, especially the issues of staff welfare.
This resolution is on the realization of the need to improve the morale of staff which is vital to their giving their best towards the achievement of the mandate of developing the Niger Delta region.
The Minister said this yesterday in Abuja during a meeting with Directorate cadre of the ministry where he said that he was not unaware of the issues that are of concern to staff.
Bemoaning the communication gap between management and staff, Usani disclosed that improving the situation was the motivation for the meeting. Stressing that good conducive environment in the ministry was vital to the developmental goals of the Niger Delta region.
Usani said the issues were of great concern to him and his counterpart, Prof. Claudius Daramola Omoleye, Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs and that they were actively looking for ways to put an end to them.
In his remarks, Prof. Omoleye urged participants at the meeting to air their complaints as nobody will be victimized for what is said, adding that the essence of the meeting was to ‘thrash out issues and bring about harmony between management and staff of the ministry’.
Subsequently, he asked for suggestions on how to go about resolving the burning issues being faced by staff.
Appreciating the Ministers for the opportunity to air their complaints, participants called on them to urgently address the issues of inadequate training, delay in carrying out of duties due to the paucity of funds, inadequate working materials tools, amongst others.
